The core judgment for special steel thread processing

After heat treatment, the original material grade of special steel may no longer fully represent the actual difficulty of thread machining.

Therefore, UGMIC recommends evaluating the following in this order:
Material Grade → Heat Treatment → Final Hardness → Thread Location → Thread Depth → Hole Type → Chip Pattern → Tool Material → Tool Structure

When the workpiece hardness increases to a level where general HSS (High-Solid Milling) cutters are not easily machinable, consider evaluating:

• HSS-Co

• PM-HSS

• Tungsten Carbide

• Thread End Mills

and other tool options.
