Silicon molybdenum cast iron

Silicon-molybdenum cast iron (primarily high-silicon-molybdenum ductile iron) is a high-performance heat-resistant ductile iron with a high content of silicon (approximately 4% to 5%) and molybdenum (approximately 0.3% to 1%).

⚫ Core Advantages:

High-Temperature Oxidation Resistance: It is not prone to peeling or flaking in high-temperature exhaust environments. Even at extreme temperatures of 800°C to 900°C, it maintains excellent oxidation resistance, thermal fatigue resistance, and creep resistance.

⚫ Thermal Fatigue Resistance:

It can withstand the enormous temperature stress generated by the alternating hot and cold cycles of an engine.

⚫ Creep Resistance:

It is not prone to permanent, slow deformation under long-term high-temperature stress.

⚫ Cost-Effectiveness:

Compared to some expensive heat-resistant cast steels, it offers comparable high-temperature performance at a higher cost. It is widely used in automotive engine exhaust pipes and turbocharger housings.

Thread Machining Characteristics
Chips may be:

• Granular
Due to factors such as material strength, porosity, and casting structure, the following may occur:

• HSS tool wear

• Abnormal thread dimensions

• Thread shrinkage

• Reduced tool life
